Day 01: Arrival at San Jose, Costa Rica. Transfer to Hotel. Hotel Rinón del Valle. Standard room (B).
Welcome to Costa Rica Arrive at Juan Santamaria International Airport. After passing through Immigration you will be met by one of ours representatives. He will take you to your hotel and give you your welcome kit. Overnight in San Jose City. Strategically located near La Sabana Metropolitan Park, the heart of the city of San José, you will find Rincón del Valle Hotel and Suites, ready to offer you a comfortable and friendly environment where guests can enjoy themselves of the peacefulness and security of the area.
Day 02: Rafting Rio Pacuare. Rios Tropicales Rainforest Lodge (B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner)
The Pacuare River is one of the best choices for your adventure treks in Costa Rica. Another trip in the country does not exist that offers you a perfect blend of wilderness exposure and excitement! Pacuare is world famous for its sheer beauty. You'll depart San Jose early in the morning, traveling east towards the Caribbean and crossing the amazing Braulio Carrillo National Park. The first day's Class III rapids welcome you to the Pacuare gorge's charm as you raft deep in the heart of primary rainforest. While your guides prepare a hearty picnic lunch on the riverbank, you'll enjoy a walk through the jungle to an enchanting waterfall and pool to swim. Before you know it, you'll arrive at the unique Rios Tropicales Lodge where you can spend the afternoon relaxing, hiking or soaking in a waterfall and pools. Nestled in the jungle on a 1,500-acre private reserve, the lodge offers you all the comforts you need in "Cabecar Indian" style bungalows. Private single and double rooms are spacious and completely provided with fresh linens and comfortable pillows and beds. Don’t worry about bathrooms – the lodge enjoys modern, clean bathrooms and hot water showers, thanks to a self-sufficient mini-hydro-plant that generates all our electricity. As the sun dips behind the hills and the twilight fades, you will be treated to a delicious freshly prepared dinner with candlelight and wine.
Day 03: Layover day at the eco-lodge: Rainforest canopy tours, hikes, relaxing and more (B, L, D).
Rainforest Lodge Don't worry about wake-up time. The beauty of the light through the forest, the sound of toucans and the smell of coffee will get you going. This day is designed to enjoy the lodge and its natural surroundings. Enjoy four distinctive platforms for a canopytour that blend in seamlessly with the natural surroundings, giving you an amazing perspective of life in the roof of the jungle. In addition to the free canopy tour, you can choose a variety of hikes - a 4-5 hour hike high into the Pacuare Reserve; a 2-3 hour hike to nearby waterfalls and pools, or short walks near the lodge. An optional tour on this day could be a hike to the nearby Bajo Tigre community, with a chance to learn from local community members about their sustainable farming and environmental responsibility. Your bilingual river guide will accompany you and interpret along the tour. We are pleased to offer you access to this tour, which is completely managed by the Bajo Tigre Community. Day 04: Pick Up rental car, Self drive to Arenal Volcano. Arenal Springs Hotel. Junior Suite (B).
(Last Day): Whitewater Action! Class IV Rafting on Lower Pacuare. After yet another serving of Costa Rica's tastiest coffee and a hearty breakfast, we will pack up and load the rafts in preparation for paddling down the Pacuare gorge past gushing waterfalls, serene pools and pounding rapids. A snack stop by the riverside lets you explore more waterfalls and natural waterslides. An adrenaline-packed afternoon running rapids like Upper and Lower Huacas, Cimarron, Dos Montanas and many more. We will have transportation waiting for you at the take-out in the town of Siquirres, hot lunch waiting upon arrival. Here you will receive your rental car and drive towards the Arenal volcano. Arenal National Park lies within the Arenal Conservation Area, protecting eight of Costa Rica's 12 life zones and 16 protected reserves in the region between the Guanacaste and Tilarán mountain ranges, and including Lake Arenal. Arenal Volcano has been constantly active since it woke up after 400 years. One of the world's most active volcanos; Arenal produces huge ash columns, explosions and glowing red lava almost every day. Fascinating fauna and flora exist here in amazing quantities making this a prime location for viewing many many different species of both plants and animals.

Day 06: Self drive to Caño Negro. Caño Negro Natural Lodge. Standard room (All meals included)
The Caño Negro Wetlands are located in the northern zone of Costa Rica, close to the small village of Los Chiles, few kilometers to Nicaragua. Caño Negro is mainly conformed by the Caño Negro Lagoon and the Rio Frio. It is one of the most important biological areas of the country (4th on earth). Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge was declared “Wild Life Area of International Importance” in 1991. This Costa Rican ecological treasure is the natural habitat of more than 350 species of birds, as well as the emerald basilisk, iguanas, river turtles, caimans, jaguars, ocelots, giant anteaters, monkeys, and many others. The Natural Lodge Caño Negro is surrounded by exuberant tropical vegetation, and has direct access to the pristine canals of the refuge. Features furnished rooms with Air Conditioning and Fan, Security box, and complete bathroom.
Day 07: Caño Negro. Wetland tour (Included). Caño Negro Natural Lodge. Standard room (B, L, D)
Visit on a comfortable boat the channels and lagoons that compose this beautiful area. You will be able to observe the flora and fauna and the incredible beauty of the channel systems. This refuge is home of more than 350 bird species, 310 species of plants, at least 160 species of mammals such as the howler monkey, the white faced monkey and the spider monkey. There are many species of fish such as the famous Garfish, known as a living fossil.
Day 08: Selfdrive to Monteverde. Finca Valverde (B).
The spectacular Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve is a very important and popular ecotourism destination in Costa Rica. With its unique cloud canopy, this biological reserve located in Puntarenas province is 6 km east of the town of Santa Elena. Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve is one of the most stunning and breathtaking nature reserves in the entire world. Unlike rainforests, cloud forests usually receive much less rain in comparison. However, because a cloud forest is situated at a higher altitude, it has more humidity and is therefore cloudier than a rainforest. This biological reserve sits at an elevation of between 1,200 m to 1,600 m, and is surrounded by a misty cover that supports a fantastic diversity of flora and fauna. Often creating a surreal environment, this reserve is considered to be among the most exceptional wildlife sanctuaries in the New World Tropics.
Day 09: Monteverde. Sky Trek Tour, Sky Tram & Sky walk (Included). Finca Valverde (B).
SKY TREK includes 4544 feet of trails, eleven transversal cables (from 131 feet to 2525 feet) long, and two observatory towers for a panoramic view (360º) of the Guanacaste, San Carlos and Puntarenas lowlands. SKY WALK is a combination of suspension bridges and platforms built in the cloud forest that offers an opportunity to explore the forest canopy in a safe and easy manner! SKY TRAM: Fly up to the Continental Divide. It’s a high technology cableway that includes a ride of 1600 meters (both ways) with altitudes between 1400 and 1600 m.a.s.l. The Sky Tram will lead you up to the Continental Divide and to one of the highest mountains of Monteverde.
Day 10: Self-drive to Manuel Antonio. The Falls Resort (B)
Manuel Antonio, on the Pacific Coast with an estuary, mangroves, a lagoon, beautiful beaches and winding paths, all this on 638 hectares of land and 55.000 hectares of protected marine environment.. Throughout the park, you will find the famous wildlife Costa Rica is known for, monkeys, sloths and lots of birds among others. A splendid combination of nature experience and beach fun!
Day 11/ 12: Free days at Manuel Antonio. The Falls Resort (B)
Opportunity to visit the park. An abundant diversity of wildlife, cathedral Point, with its forest topped cliffs was once an island, but is now connected to the coast by a thin strip of island. This land bridge now forms the spine separating the parks two most popular beaches, Playa Espadilla Sur and Playa Manuel Antonio.The southern facing beach, Playa Manuel Antonio, is a picturesque half mile long, white sand crescent bisecting deep green foliage to one side and a private, secluded cove to the other. Stay at the Hotel Villas Lirio which is located just a few minutes away from the town of Quepos and the Manuel Antonio National park. It offers 21 garden rooms and 2 suites, a pool and a very good restaurant.
Day 13: San Jose. Self - drive to San José. Country Inn & Suites. Standard room (B).

What To Bring:
The most important things to bring are your travel documents: a valid passport, flight and hotel information, health insurance card and driver's license (if you plan on renting a car in Costa Rica). We advise you to make three copies of these documents. Put one copy in your carry-on bag, one copy in your suitcase and leave one copy at home.
Basic Tropical forests, colorful wildlife and spectacular beaches are part of daily life in Costa Rica. The climate varies depending on where you are, so pack accordingly.
1 Prepare for hot, humid summers. Shorts, T-shirts, sundresses, skirts and tank tops in lightweight fabrics should keep you cool. Take a sweater for evenings at a higher elevation.
2 Bring plenty of sunblock. Also include insect repellent, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and a swimsuit.
3 Take rubber-soled sandals or hiking boots for journeys into the rain forests. Flip-flops and sandals are great for resorts and hanging out by the beach.
4 Pack separate clothes for evenings. Simple dresses are great for women, while men will do well in long shorts and a button-down shirt.
5 Prepare for cool winters, particularly in the northern regions and at higher elevations. Long pants and long-sleeved shirts are a must, while a fleece jacket or a sweater is advisable.
6 Take an umbrella if you plan to travel between May and November - Costa Rica's wettest period. A rain slicker will come in handy while hiking.
7 Take an electric converter and adapter.
