After passing through Immigration you will be met at the airport by one of our representatives. He will take you to your hotel and give you our welcome kit. Overnight stay in San Jose City.

Day 02: Pick up rental car. Self drive to Cahuita. Suizo Loco Lodge. (B).

Everything that you would expect for a tropical destination is served up on a golden platter on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast. Lush surroundings and friendly people are the ultimate compliments to any traveler's vacation. Bordered by Nicaragua and Panama, the Caribbean coast spans almost 200 kilometers.

Day 03: Free day in Cahuita. Suizo Loco Lodge. (B).

A nice option for today is the Cahuita National Park: It protects a well-developed coral reef and is one of the most visited parks on the Caribbean Coast. Over 23,000 hectares make up the marine park including the reef system. Aside from the howler monkeys and sloths in the tropical humid forest, you can see angel fish and brain coral in the water. Cahuita is one of the many pleasant parks to hike through since it runs primarily along the beach. The hike takes you through this often swampy forest on a well-defined path.

Day 04: Self drive to Arenal.  Arenal Springs Resort. (B)

Nothing short of “awesome” is the only way to describe the feeling one has when seeing the Arenal Volcano for the first time. The National Park of the Arenal Volcano lies within the Arenal Conservation Area which is protecting eight of Costa Rica's 12 life zones and 16 protected reserves in the region between the Guanacaste and Tilarán mountain ranges, including Lake Arenal. Arenal Volcano has been constantly active since it woke up after 400 years. As one of the world's most active volcanoes the Arenal produces huge ash columns, explosions and glowing red lava almost every day. Fascinating flora and fauna exists here in amazing quantities, making this a prime location for viewing many different species of both plants and animals. Moving through the valleys of the agriculturally rich Northern Zone up through San Carlos and into the towering rain forest, this is one of the most inviting regions in Costa Rica.

Day 05: Free day at Arenal. Arenal Springs Resort. (B).

Optional tours: Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge, Tour To the Arenal Volcano and Tabacón Resort Hot Springs, Sport Fishing in the Arenal Lake, Arenal Volcano Hike Tour, Mountain Biking, Venado Caves Tour, horseback Riding to Arenal Volcano, Peñas Blancas Safari Float.

Day 06: Self drive to Monteverde. Cloud Forest Lodge. (B).

Founded in the 1950's by a group of Quakers from the U.S., Monteverde has gained internationally renowned as one of the most outstanding wildlife sanctuaries in the tropics. The reserve spreads out over 10,500 hectares of land that holds six different life zones. The climate and terrain of the preserve produce an incredible bio-diversity. There are at least 400 bird species in this high elevation rain forest including the Resplendent Quetzal, ancient holy bird of the Mayans, over 100 species of mammals, 120 species of amphibians and reptiles and an estimated 2,500 species of plants, making Monteverde a true "nature lover's paradise". More than 400 species of delicate orchids grace the limbs of majestic trees. Their captivating colors of whites, lilacs and yellows contrast with the emerald green of the forest.

Day 07: Free day at  Monteverde. Cloud Forest Lodge. Standard room (B).

Day 08: Self drive to Manuel Antonio. Hotel Playa Espadilla. Standard (B).

What To Bring:

The most important things to bring are your travel documents: a valid passport, flight and hotel information, health insurance card and driver's license (if you plan on renting a car in Costa Rica). We advise you to make three copies of these documents. Put one copy in your carry-on bag, one copy in your suitcase and leave one copy at home.

Basic Tropical forests, colorful wildlife and spectacular beaches are part of daily life in Costa Rica. The climate varies depending on where you are, so pack accordingly.

1 Prepare for hot, humid summers. Shorts, T-shirts, sundresses, skirts and tank tops in lightweight fabrics should keep you cool. Take a sweater for evenings at a higher elevation.
2 Bring plenty of sunblock. Also include insect repellent, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and a swimsuit.
3 Take rubber-soled sandals or hiking boots for journeys into the rain forests. Flip-flops and sandals are great for resorts and hanging out by the beach.
4 Pack separate clothes for evenings. Simple dresses are great for women, while men will do well in long shorts and a button-down shirt.
5 Prepare for cool winters, particularly in the northern regions and at higher elevations. Long pants and long-sleeved shirts are a must, while a fleece jacket or a sweater is advisable.
6 Take an umbrella if you plan to travel between May and November - Costa Rica's wettest period. A rain slicker will come in handy while hiking.
7 Take an electric converter and adapter.
