Corcovado National Park Established in 1975, Corcovado National Park covers one-third of the Osa Peninsula, and is one of the wildest zones in the country. It is protected specifically for scientific research, conservation goals and environmental education. And it is hot, rainy and very humid.Because of its geographical location and composition, a huge diversity of biological species appear in and around the park, combing both terrestrial and marine ecosystems, such as marshes, mangrove swamps, rainforests, rivers, shallow lagoons and cloud forest. Corcovado protects some of the only humid tropical forest left on the Mesoamerican Pacific, and shelters many species in danger of extinction. Snakes, frogs and toucans are abundant. It is a wild region, with an abundance of rare wildlife, and the last area of primary forest on a Pacific coastline in Central America. The climate is very hot and humid which enables the trees to grow to heights of 70 meters.
Day 04: Corcovado. Corcovado. Deluxe room. (B, L, D) Guided tour to Caño Island
Caño Island is an ancient mountain between 40 and 50 million years old. The island is the site of a pre-columbian cemetery and is of great archeological importance. Many artifacts can still be found, such as the round stone spheres made by former native Indian peoples. Fresh water springs spill clear water over cliffs, creating waterfalls along the miles of coral sand beaches ringing the island. While snorkeling, you will enjoy viewing the great variety of fish, including huge porcupine fish, as well as populations of mollusks, crustaceans and other invertebrates which abound in the crystal clear, turquoise coastal water and tital pools. Five corals platforms can be found offshore, in which 15 species of stony coral have been identified. On the boat ride to the island, boobies and frigate birds, humpback whales, dolphins, sea turtles, manta rays and sailfish are often sighted. After your arrival to Caño Island, you will be guided to the cemetery site and a waterfall. Upon returning to the coral sand beach, a picnic will be served and you are free to explore the aquatic and terrestrial treasures on and around Caño Island. For those who want to explore the coral reefs around the Island it’s a great opportunity to see a fantastic number of fish, rays and sometimes turtles. This is one of the best dive spots in Costa Rica. On most days there will be a chance to snorkel at the "Coral Garden", which is an excellent spot for beginners or more experienced guests.

Manuel Antonio is a true ecosystem surrounded by rain forests and lush mountains that literally meet the ocean. What To Bring:
The most important things to bring are your travel documents: a valid passport, flight and hotel information, health insurance card and driver's license (if you plan on renting a car in Costa Rica). We advise you to make three copies of these documents. Put one copy in your carry-on bag, one copy in your suitcase and leave one copy at home.
Basic Tropical forests, colorful wildlife and spectacular beaches are part of daily life in Costa Rica. The climate varies depending on where you are, so pack accordingly.
1 Prepare for hot, humid summers. Shorts, T-shirts, sundresses, skirts and tank tops in lightweight fabrics should keep you cool. Take a sweater for evenings at a higher elevation.
2 Bring plenty of sunblock. Also include insect repellent, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and a swimsuit.
3 Take rubber-soled sandals or hiking boots for journeys into the rain forests. Flip-flops and sandals are great for resorts and hanging out by the beach.
4 Pack separate clothes for evenings. Simple dresses are great for women, while men will do well in long shorts and a button-down shirt.
5 Prepare for cool winters, particularly in the northern regions and at higher elevations. Long pants and long-sleeved shirts are a must, while a fleece jacket or a sweater is advisable.
6 Take an umbrella if you plan to travel between May and November - Costa Rica's wettest period. A rain slicker will come in handy while hiking.
7 Take an electric converter and adapter.
