Day 01: Arrival to Daniel Oduber international airport, Costa Rica. Private transfer to Borinquen Mountain Resort.

Welcome to Costa Rica! Once you have passed immigration and customs and exited the airport doors, you will meet one of our travel representatives with a sign reading your name. He will drive you to your hotel in Rincon de la Vieja and give you your welcome kit.

Rincon de la Vieja is a stand alone, outdoor adventure destination high in the mountains, about an hour outside of Liberia, Guanacaste.  A hidden paradise of a gently active volcano, a turquoise water flowing river, waterfalls , mud cauldrons and grassy plains.  Rincon de la Vieja is in one word, spectacular!

Here you will connect your soul with nature, hit the trails of the National Park, swim at the base of a waterfall, go tubing down a fast flowing waters, straddle a river canyon and horseback ride with cowboys on a local cattle ranch.

Important Note: The National Park Rincón de la Vieja is closed on Mondays!

Day 02: Horseback riding in Rincón de la Vieja

Once you arrive to the stables, you will be assigned a horse depending on your riding capabilities. Your guide will go over instructions and safety tips on how to ride your horse during the tour.  When your horse and you are ready to go, you will be led through private trails and country roads.  Along the way you will be taken to a beautiful waterfall. The tour is great for families as well as nature lovers. The scenery will amaze you!

Day 03: Private transfer to the Arenal Volcano.

Arenal Volcano located in La Fortuna, is the most iconic volcano in Costa Rica. Its perfectly coned shaped volcano was the most active volcano up until 2010. One of the most popular reasons to visit Arenal Volcano (besides all of the adventure activities in the area) are the wonderful volcano heated hot springs that come from the geothermal activity beneath Arenal.

Day 04: Hanging Bridges Guided walk

Ever felt like Tarzan or Jane? Hidden wonders are to be discovered from the heights of the hanging bridges. As you walk right into the jungle  through its canopy on a 2  mile circuit you will see the homes to many animals and birds (howler monkeys, poison dart frogs, red frogs, snakes, toucans, parrots and many more).  You will walk over 10 of the static bridges and 6 hanging bridges.

Day 05: Safari boat float on the Peñas Blancas River.

Hop on an inflatable raft for a peaceful float down the Peñas Blancas River.  A perfect half day excursion for families and groups looking to connect with water and the rain forest! While paddling down the river, spot an array of tropical birds such as toucans and kingfishers, as well as animals like monkeys, sloths, poison dart frogs, caimans and iguanas. As many animals are camouflaged in the jungle, your expert guide will help notice them. Did you see that cayman?

Day 06: Private transfer to Nicoya Peninsula.

Nicoya Peninsula, featured on CNN as one of the five blue zones of the world has rich cultural traditions and values that harbor some of the world’s longest living people. Highlights of the Nicoya Peninsula are their fishing villages, cattle ranches and local towns.  Activities in the area include water sports (surfing, stand up paddle boarding, snorkeling, fishing, sea kayaking) and land sports (horseback riding, hiking and canopy tours). Nicoya has year long enviable weather as well as rich bio-diversity that makes it another one of those spectacular places!

Day 07: Free day to discover spectacular beaches and surroundings

The small fishing hamlet of Tambor sits not far from Curu National Wildlife Refuge. As a laid back, mixed-community of locals and foreign retirees, Tambor is nestled in an open volcanic valley, surrounded by forested hills. Its beach, Playa Tambor, is an exceptional location for swimming. Golf, tennis, and other activities are available in and around the town of Tambor, making this a favorite destination for those seeking developed tourism facilities within a quiet town. The ocean is home to copious marine fauna. Snorkeling and Scuba Diving are popular activities among visitors eager to experience the underwater landscape.

Day 08: Last day in Costa Rica. Private transfer to Daniel Oduber international airport in Liberia.

The most important things to bring are your travel documents: a valid passport, flight and hotel information, health insurance card and driver’s license (if you plan on renting a car in Costa Rica). We advise you to make three copies of these documents. Put one copy in your carry-on bag, one copy in your suitcase and leave one copy at home.

Basic Tropical forests, colorful wildlife and spectacular beaches are part of daily life in Costa Rica. The climate varies depending on where you are, so pack accordingly.

  1. Prepare for hot, humid summers. Shorts, T-shirts, sundresses, skirts and tank tops in lightweight fabrics should keep you cool. Take a sweater for evenings at a higher elevation.
  2. Bring plenty of sunblock. Also include insect repellent, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and a swimsuit.
  3. Take rubber-soled sandals or hiking boots for journeys into the rain forests. Flip-flops and sandals are great for resorts and hanging out by the beach.
  4. Pack separate clothes for evenings. Simple dresses are great for women, while men will do well in long shorts and a button-down shirt.
  5. Prepare for cool winters, particularly in the northern regions and at higher elevations. Long pants and long-sleeved shirts are a must, while a fleece jacket or a sweater is advisable.
  6. Take an umbrella if you plan to travel between May and November – Costa Rica’s wettest period.
  7. A rain slicker will come in handy while hiking.
  8. Take an electric converter and adapter.
