Day 01: Arrival at San José, Costa Rica. Transfer to your hotel in San José.

Welcome to Costa Rica! Once you have passed immigration and customs and exited the airport doors, you will meet one of our travel representatives with a sign reading your name. He will drive you to your hotel in San Jose and give you your welcome kit.

Day 02: Pick up rental car and self-drive to Puerto Viejo.

Where lush thick jungles meet the Caribbean seas, soft caramel colored sands caress your body and the multicultural vibe of Jamaican and Europeans alike make Puerto Viejo the go to destination for a laid back vacation.  Puerto Viejo is not for everyone as it is still considered off the beaten track.  However, this unique Caribbean town is authentic without golf courses, marinas, country clubs, swimming pools or air conditioned rooms common on the North Pacific coast of Costa Rica. This Caribbean region instead offers the exotic Cahuita National Park, Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife refuge, hidden beaches, rugged nightlife and delightful restaurants

Day 03: Free day in Puerto Viejo.

From renting a local banana bike to cycling from one beach to another through sandy trails to activities such as SUP (stand up paddle boarding), surfing, a visit to the sloth sanctuary or the jaguar rescue center are all but a few of the exciting adventures you may experience in Puerto Viejo.

Day 04: Self-drive to Arenal Volcano.

Arenal Volcano located in La Fortuna, is the most iconic volcano in Costa Rica. Its perfectly coned shaped volcano was the most active volcano up until 2010. One of the most popular reasons to visit Arenal Volcano (besides all of the adventure activities in the area) are the wonderful volcano heated hot springs that come from the geothermal activity beneath Arenal.

Day 05: Free day at Arenal Volcano.

This day enjoy your day relaxing at your hotel and surroundings or choose one of many activities that are offered in the area.  Optional tours are: Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge tour, tour of the Arenal Volcano and Tabacón Resort hot springs, sport fishing on Lake Arenal, Guided hike of the Arenal Volcano, Mountain Biking, Venado Caves Tour, horseback riding, safari float.

Day 06: Self-drive to Monteverde.

Monteverde is Costa Rica’s green jewel, an environmental amusement park where nature rules and conservation is part of everyday life. Monteverde is a bird and orchid lover’s paradise. 91 species of migratory birds are known to stop in Monteverde and it is also the site with the largest number of orchids in the world with 34 of 500 species newly discovered. The famous Quetzal resides in the cloud forests of Monteverde which means ¨Green Mountain¨ in Spanish, a name that couldn’t be more appropriate.

Day 07: Free day at Monteverde.

Enjoy your day relaxing at your hotel and surroundings or ask your travel consultant about the many optional activities that are offered in the area.

Day 08: Self-drive to Manuel Antonio.

The beaches of Manuel Antonio are one of the nicest and closest beach destinations from San Jose!  Here the majority of hotels, restaurants, night life and center of town are located on the hill top overlooking the Pacific Ocean and spectacular sunsets.  Manuel Antonio is a perfect destination for everyone. The destination offers numerous adventure activities such as nature hikes, snorkeling, wildlife watching (exceptional to view various species of monkeys, birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians). The town of Manuel Antonio also offers great restaurants and night life.


***Notice that the Manuel Antonio National Park is closed on Mondays.

Day 09: Free day in Manuel Antonio.

Undoubtedly, one of the biggest draws of Manuel Antonio is its national park. Internationally recognized as one of the planet’s most biologically diverse parks, the Manuel Antonio National Park is virtually teeming with wildlife. A trip here offers visitors the chance to spot several types of monkeys, birds, lizards and insects.  In addition to its wildlife viewing, the park has two gorgeous white-sand beaches – some of the country’s best places to relax beside the sea. Outside the park, there is much to see and do as well. Visitors can spend their time whitewater rafting, horseback riding, sea kayaking, or zip-lining, among other things. Additionally, the nearby port town of Quepos offers some of the country’s best sport-fishing.

Day10: Self-drive to Juan Santamaría International Airport in San José.

The most important things to bring are your travel documents: a valid passport, flight and hotel information, health insurance card and driver’s license (if you plan on renting a car in Costa Rica). We advise you to make three copies of these documents. Put one copy in your carry-on bag, one copy in your suitcase and leave one copy at home.Basic Tropical forests, colorful wildlife and spectacular beaches are part of daily life in Costa Rica. The climate varies depending on where you are, so pack accordingly.

  1. Prepare for hot, humid summers. Shorts, T-shirts, sundresses, skirts and tank tops in lightweight fabrics should keep you cool. Take a sweater for evenings at a higher elevation.Bring plenty of sunblock. Also include insect repellent, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and a swimsuit.
  2. Take rubber-soled sandals or hiking boots for journeys into the rain forests. Flip-flops and sandals are great for resorts and hanging out by the beach.Pack separate clothes for evenings. Simple dresses are great for women, while men will do well in long shorts and a button-down shirt.
  3. Prepare for cool winters, particularly in the northern regions and at higher elevations. Long pants and long-sleeved shirts are a must, while a fleece jacket or a sweater is advisable.
  4. Take an umbrella if you plan to travel between May and November – Costa Rica’s wettest period.
  5. A rain slicker will come in handy while hiking.
  6. Take an electric converter and adapter.
